Detailed Information

As an Associate Professor in Tourism and Hospitality Management, here is exactly what I offer as a supervisor.

I supervise Master’s (MSc/MA) and PhD students who are passionate about producing rigorous, relevant, and impactful research that bridges academic theory with real-world tourism and hospitality practice. My supervision is hands-on, structured, and student-centered – designed to help you not only complete your degree on time but also build a strong academic or professional portfolio that opens doors after graduation.

I welcome proposals in the following areas (and combinations of them):

  • Sustainable and responsible tourism development (especially community-based tourism, overtourism mitigation, and circular economy models in destinations)
  • Hospitality operations and innovation (service quality, technology adoption – AI, robotics, smart hotels – employee well-being, and post-pandemic resilience)
  • Tourist behaviour and experience design (consumer psychology, memorable experiences, cultural and heritage tourism, dark tourism)
  • Destination management and marketing (place branding, digital marketing, crisis and risk management, tourism policy)
  • Regional tourism development with a focus on South-East Europe and the Western Balkans (cross-border tourism, rural and mountain tourism, diaspora tourism)
  • Event and festival management, culinary tourism, and wellness/spa tourism

If your idea sits at the intersection of any of these with digital transformation, climate change, or inclusive tourism, I am particularly interested.

  1. Structured supervision process
  • We begin with a detailed research proposal workshop (usually 3–4 meetings) until your topic is sharp, feasible, and original.
  • Monthly one-to-one meetings (60–90 minutes) during the first year; fortnightly during data collection and writing-up phases.
  • Written feedback on every draft chapter within 10 working days (maximum).
  • A clear timeline and Gantt chart that we co-create and update together so you always know where you stand.
  1. Methodological and analytical support I have deep expertise in both quantitative (survey design, SEM, PLS-SEM, econometric modelling of tourism demand) and qualitative approaches (in-depth interviews, focus groups, ethnography, thematic analysis, grounded theory). I can also guide mixed-methods and case-study research. You will have access to my network for data collection (hotels, DMOs, tourism boards, and international partners), and I will help you choose and learn the most appropriate software (SPSS, AMOS, NVivo, R, Python for text analysis).

  1. Publishing and dissemination opportunities. My goal is that every supervisee publishes at least one high-quality paper (Q1/Q2 journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Travel Research) before or immediately after graduation. I actively co-author with students when the contribution is substantial and offer full support for conference presentations (funding applications for travel grants included).
  2. Career and professional development
  • Regular career mentoring sessions (academic track or industry track).
  • Introduction to my international network (editors, researchers, and industry leaders in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East).
  • Training in grant writing, teaching skills (if you wish to pursue academia), and job-market preparation (CV, cover letters, interview coaching).
  • Opportunities to join ongoing funded projects or apply for external scholarships together.
  1. Personalized support and work-life balance. I understand that many students combine studies with work or family responsibilities. I am flexible with meeting times (including evenings or weekends when necessary), and I encourage open conversations about any challenges that arise. My supervision style is supportive yet rigorous. I will challenge you intellectually while providing the scaffolding you need to succeed.
